Mrs. Kershaw was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and attended Morgan State University. She continued her post graduate studies at Atlanta University, University of Houston, and Loyola College - Baltimore. After several years of working as a hotelier, secretary, and bank officer, she started her teaching career in Houston, Texas, as a bilingual 1st grade teacher in 1987.
In 1990, Mrs. Kershaw began teaching elementary school in Baltimore City and was recognized by her colleagues for two consecutive years as her school's teacher of the year. In 1993, Mrs. Kershaw began teaching middle school Spanish in Baltimore County. Beginning in 1998 until 2000, Mrs. Kershaw was a teacher mentor, working with new and non-tenured teachers. Returning to the classroom in 2001, she was asked to implement a Spanish Magnet program for 6th grade at Deer Park Middle Magnet School in Baltimore County. In 2005, Mrs. Kershaw began teaching for Howard County, and here we are!
